Explore and Play: Freeze Dance

Directions

1. Tell children you are now going to play a game called Freeze Dance. Explain how the game works. You’ll put on the music and everyone will dance. Then you’ll stop the music without warning and everyone should stop moving and freeze in place! Then you’ll repeat the process several times.
2. Take pictures of children, both dancing and in a “frozen” position.
3. Ask, do you like to dance with music or without music? Why do you think dancing and music go together? How does dancing make you feel? Add any new insights to the “Feelings and Music” chart.
