Hatching new scientists every day!

Week 1: Pour, Squirt, Drip, Drop

This week, children will begin exploring the movement of water—how different containers and tools make water move and flow in different ways. They’ll also observe water’s ability to take the shape of the containers it’s in. At the end of the week, children will explore water drops: their shape, how to make them, and the way they behave on different surfaces (a piece of wax paper or a paper towel, for example).  The guided activities can take place indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.

Day 1

Day 1

Today, children begin exploring what they know about water, focusing on the different shapes water can take.

Day 2

Day 2

Today, children continue to explore what they can do with water when you introduce some new tools for moving water—sponges, funnels, and tubes.

Day 3

Day 3

Today, children explore the different ways to carry water and try them out themselves.

Day 4

Day 4

Today, children explore water drops: their shape, how to make them, and the way they behave on different surfaces.

Day 5

Day 5

Today, while children continue to explore water drops, they also investigate things that leak.
